ABSTRACT: Rhinzomycotr variabilis sp. nov. is described and reported as a causative agent of a human primary cutaneous infection of a patient without an underlying disease in this country. Distinguishing characteristics of the new species are detailed. Cases of mucormycosis caused by species of Rhizomucor are briefly reviewed. The present case is at the same time a second report of a human mycosis and a first report of a human cutaneous mycosis caused by a Rhizomucor in this country, it is also a first report of a human mycosis caused by a species other than Rhizomucor pusillus in the genus Rhizomucor, and most probably a first report too, of a human primary cutaneous mycosis caused by a Rhizomucor.
